Wed Feb 05 16:00:50 IST 2025: ## Delhi Assembly Election Exit Polls Due Shortly; AAP Favored Despite BJP Campaign

**New Delhi** – Exit polls for the Delhi Assembly elections are expected to be released shortly after voting concludes at 6 PM today, with initial trends anticipated around 6:30 PM. The official vote count will take place on Saturday, February 8th.

Past exit polls in 2015 and 2020 accurately predicted an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) victory, underestimating the party’s margin of victory in both instances.

Today’s election saw largely peaceful voting, though allegations of booth capturing, fake voting, and vote buying emerged. AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Saurabh Bhardwaj accused BJP workers of distributing cash and alleged Delhi Police interference in AAP strongholds, claims the police denied. The BJP countered with accusations of AAP facilitating fake voting.

The election is considered a head-to-head contest between Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP and Narendra Modi’s BJP. The Congress party, which has failed to win any seats in recent elections, is not expected to be a significant factor.

An AAP victory on Saturday would mark a third consecutive term for the party, despite a vigorous BJP campaign featuring Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. The BJP heavily focused on allegations of corruption against Kejriwal’s liquor policy, which led to the imprisonment and subsequent release on bail of Kejriwal and Sisodia. Following his release, Kejriwal resigned as Chief Minister on moral grounds, pending the election’s outcome.
