**VISAKHAPATNAM, February 4, 2025** – The Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (HBCH&RC), Visakhapatnam, held a public outreach program on Tuesday in observance of World Cancer Day. The event, themed “United by Unique,” focused on the individual experiences of cancer patients and the importance of awareness and support.
Anakapalli District Collector Vijaya Krishnan and Dr. Ashish Gulia, Director of HBCH&RC, Punjab, were among the chief guests. The program included an exhibition showcasing various cancer services and a tour of the hospital’s facilities, which include radiation therapy, PET-CT, and a bone marrow transplant unit.
Dr. Umesh Mahantshetty, Director of HBCHRC-Visakhapatnam, stressed the importance of public awareness regarding cancer prevention, treatment, and palliative care. He encouraged open sharing of experiences among patients and caregivers to ensure smoother journeys. Dr. Gulia highlighted the Tata Memorial Centre’s nationwide awareness efforts through its nine centers. The event was open to the public.
