Musk, citing discussions with President Trump, declared on X (formerly Twitter) that USAID would be dissolved. This followed an incident on Saturday where two USAID officials were removed after allegedly blocking DOGE officials from accessing agency facilities.
USAID, founded in the 1960s, is a significant player in global development, managing over half of US foreign assistance and boasting numerous partnerships worldwide, including a substantial presence in India.
