**COIMBATORE, February 5, 2025** – Coimbatore City Police preemptively detained approximately 100 individuals affiliated with various right-wing organizations on Tuesday. The detentions, a preventive measure, followed recent events at the Thiruparankundram temple in Madurai.
Authorities confirmed that members of the Hindu Munnani, Vishva Hindu Parishad, and Hanuman Sena were among those detained to prevent potential protests and a planned march to Thiruparankundram.
BJP State General Secretary A.P. Muruganandam claimed on X (formerly Twitter) that he was placed under house arrest for his outspoken criticism of events at the Thiruparankundram temple. However, police denied this claim, stating that officers only visited his residence.
