**Madurai, Tamil Nadu, February 4, 2025** – Chitra Vijayan, a 2019 batch IAS officer, has made history by becoming the first woman to serve as the Commissioner of the Madurai Corporation since its establishment in 1971. Ms. Vijayan assumed office on Monday, succeeding C. Dinesh Kumar, who has been appointed Collector of Krishnagiri district. Prior to this appointment, she served as the Joint Director of e-Governance and Joint Chief Executive Officer of the Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency. The news was reported by The Hindu.
