Tue Feb 04 05:30:00 IST 2025: ## Belagavi Protesters Demand Halt to Hidkal Reservoir Water Diversion
**Belagavi, Karnataka – February 4, 2025** – Hundreds of protestors took to the streets of Belagavi on Monday, staging a demonstration against a project diverting water from the Hidkal reservoir to the Hubballi-Dharwad industrial estate. The demonstration, part of the “Namma Neeru, Namma Hakku” (Our Water, Our Right) campaign, saw protestors march from Kittur Chennamma Circle to the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
While some protestors attempted to enter the Deputy Commissioner’s chamber, police prevented a siege. A sit-in ensued until Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Roshan agreed to receive a memorandum demanding a halt to the project’s construction. Mr. Roshan accepted the memorandum and stated that the issue would be brought before the state government for further consideration.
