**Devakottai, Tamil Nadu, February 3, 2025** – A two-day seminar on the cultivation and commercialization of medicinal plants concluded today in Devakottai, Sivaganga district. Organized by the Yoga Trust, Karaikudi, and supported by the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), the event at Ananda College aimed to boost the medicinal plant industry.

The seminar featured presentations on cultivation practices and the diversity of medicinal plant species by NMPB Deputy Advisor R. Murugeswaran. A key highlight was the release of “Herbal Plants and Drug Technology,” a new book by Raman Lakshmisundaram of Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research. The book offers comprehensive information on medicinal plants and their value-added products, proving a valuable resource for students and researchers.

R. Thirumalaisamy, former vice-chancellor of Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, delivered the valedictory address, encouraging research into medicinal plants and urging farmers to cultivate high-demand species. The organizing secretary, P. Jayanthi Nirmala, along with K. Bakkiyalakshmi and Neena J Rayan, also participated in the successful seminar.
