**Hyderabad, February 4, 2025** – Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Jitender emphasized the crucial need for regular reviews and improvements in police operations to enhance their effectiveness. Speaking at a meeting on Monday organized by the Indian Police Foundation, the DGP highlighted the significant improvements that could be achieved through regular inspections of police stations and offices by senior officials.
The event, titled “Better Policing Through Police Reforms,” was hosted by the Indian Police Foundation, a research organization focusing on police reforms. The Foundation, led by retired officer Ish Kumar, is currently implementing an internal police reform project in Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana. The project will incorporate public feedback to design targeted training programs.
DGP Jitender stressed the importance of a victim-centric approach, skilled investigations, community policing, and professional conduct. He also instructed officers to ensure prompt complaint registration, prioritize women’s safety, and uphold the department’s reputation. Mr. Kumar added that public feedback from various police station jurisdictions would be crucial in shaping future training initiatives. The Foundation’s research focuses on six key areas: internal police reforms, technology-driven policing, prison reforms, forensic science research, crimes against women, and police health and well-being.
