**Manchester, UK –** Sanjiv Goenka’s RPSG Group, owners of the Indian Premier League’s Lucknow Super Giants, has secured a 49% stake in the Manchester Originals franchise of The Hundred cricket competition. The group reportedly submitted the highest bid, exceeding £116 million (approximately Rs 1251 crore), after a previous unsuccessful bid for the London Spirit franchise.

This partnership marks a significant investment in English cricket. Lancashire County Cricket Club, which holds the remaining 51% stake, announced that they had been seeking an IPL partner and that RPSG was their preferred bidder. The two parties will now enter an eight-week exclusivity period to finalize the deal’s terms. Lancashire indicated that a substantial portion of the proceeds will be used to reduce their bank debt.

RPSG chairman Sanjiv Goenka, who previously acquired the Lucknow Super Giants IPL franchise in 2021 for Rs 7090 crore and the Durban Super Giants in the SA20 in 2022, expressed excitement about the collaboration and a shared ambition to build a successful team for Manchester and the wider North West region. The deal promises a bright future for the Manchester Originals, injecting significant financial resources and expertise into the franchise.
