Mon Feb 03 15:50:00 IST 2025: **Lehigh Valley Schools Delay Openings Due to Freezing Rain**
ALLENTOWN, PA – Freezing rain has prompted widespread school delays across the Lehigh Valley. Multiple school districts, including Easton Area, Bethlehem Area, Nazareth Area, Bangor Area, and Allentown, have announced two-hour delayed openings. Further delays have been reported for Northampton Area, Wilson Area, Parkland, and Whitehall-Coplay, as well as several charter and private schools. A full list of affected schools is available online.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. for Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, and Northampton counties in Pennsylvania, and Morris, Sussex, and Warren counties in New Jersey. Up to 0.10 inches of ice accumulation is possible, leading to hazardous road conditions. Drivers are advised to exercise caution and be prepared for potential power outages. While rain is expected, it will do little to alleviate the existing precipitation deficit.
