**LOS ANGELES (AP)** — In a historic moment at the 67th Grammy Awards, Beyoncé finally claimed the coveted Album of the Year award for her critically acclaimed album, “Cowboy Carter.” This win marks the first time a Black woman has received the top honor in the 21st century, a significant milestone in the Grammys’ history. Beyoncé, already the most awarded artist in Grammy history, expressed gratitude, dedicating the win to Linda Martell, the first Black woman to perform at the Grand Ole Opry. Host Trevor Noah celebrated the long-awaited achievement for the superstar.

Kendrick Lamar also had a triumphant night, securing both Song and Record of the Year awards for his track “Not Like Us,” a diss track marking only the second hip-hop single to achieve this feat. He dedicated his wins to the city of Los Angeles.

Other notable wins included Chappell Roan taking home Best New Artist, delivering a powerful speech advocating for better treatment and compensation for developing artists. Doechii won Best Rap Album for “Alligator Bites Never Heal,” becoming only the third woman to win in this category. Sierra Ferrell won Best Americana Performance, and Kacey Musgraves took home Best Country Song. Amy Allen won Songwriter of the Year (Non-Classical). Taylor Swift presented Beyoncé with her Best Country Album award.

The ceremony, held amidst the backdrop of recent devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, incorporated several poignant tributes to the city’s resilience. The show opened with a performance of Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A.” by artists affected by the fires, and viewers contributed $7 million to relief efforts during the broadcast. Performers included The Weeknd, who made a surprise appearance, Billie Eilish and Finneas, and Sabrina Carpenter, among others. The show also featured tributes to the late Quincy Jones.

The 67th Grammy Awards showcased a mix of established stars and emerging talent, culminating in a night filled with both historic wins and powerful messages.
