Mon Feb 03 08:10:00 IST 2025: ## Stars Rally for FireAid: A Night of Music and Remembrance After Devastating LA Wildfires

**INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP)** — A star-studded lineup of musicians and celebrities came together Thursday night for FireAid, a massive benefit concert raising funds for victims of the recent devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles area. The dual concerts, held at the Kia Forum and Intuit Dome, featured electrifying performances and poignant testimonials from survivors, painting a picture of both the devastation and the community’s resilience.

The night kicked off with a surprise appearance by Billie Eilish, joining Green Day for a performance of “Last Night on Earth,” a particularly resonant choice given the song’s lyrics about loss. Other highlights included a powerful performance by the surviving members of Nirvana, featuring St. Vincent, Kim Gordon, and Joan Jett filling in for Kurt Cobain, and a surprise appearance by Dr. Dre who joined Anderson .Paak and Sheila E. for a high-energy performance of classic West Coast hip-hop. The Red Hot Chili Peppers delivered an energetic set, with Flea’s signature dramatic entrance setting the tone. The emotional evening also featured a moving performance by Dawes, who invited Stephen Stills and Graham Nash onstage for a collaborative performance of classic songs.

Comedian Billy Crystal, who lost his home in the fires, served as a host, sharing his deeply personal experience with both humor and heartbreaking honesty. He recalled the loss of his home and drew parallels to his experience attending the Concert for New York City after 9/11, highlighting the shared grief and the importance of community in times of crisis. He emphasized the courage of first responders and the collective spirit of Los Angeles, urging the audience to remember the lives lost and the ongoing recovery efforts.

The concert also featured moving stories from those directly affected by the wildfires. Glendale High School math teacher Aurora Barboza Flores shared her experience of losing her home and the community she had built, underscoring the impact of the fires on education and everyday lives. Quinta Brunson, of “Abbott Elementary,” introduced Flores, shining a light on the challenges faced by teachers and students displaced by the disaster.

FireAid served not only as a fundraising event but also as a powerful testament to the spirit of Los Angeles, showcasing the city’s ability to unite in the face of adversity through music, remembrance, and collective support.
