Mon Feb 03 16:10:16 IST 2025: ## Gaza Aid Flowing, But Distribution Hampered by UXO and Damaged Infrastructure
**GAZA CITY** – Two weeks after the Hamas-Israel ceasefire, a massive influx of aid is reaching the Gaza Strip, with the World Food Programme (WFP) reporting record food distributions exceeding those of any month during the conflict. Over 32,000 tonnes of aid have entered through three crossings since the ceasefire, including crucial supplies like flour for reopened bakeries and high-energy biscuits. Gaza police are also assisting with restoring order.
However, humanitarian efforts are significantly hampered by the devastating impact of the conflict. Destroyed and damaged roads are severely complicating the delivery of aid, while stringent Israeli inspections at border crossings and the pervasive threat of unexploded ordnance (UXO) pose major challenges. The UN estimates that 5-10% of the munitions dropped on Gaza failed to detonate, creating a dangerous environment for both civilians and aid workers. This widespread presence of UXO is slowing the delivery of vital supplies and hindering recovery efforts across the territory.
