**Lucknow, February 2, 2025** – Balveer alias Munnar, accused in a double murder case in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested following a police encounter on Thursday, January 30th. The encounter occurred near Garha Gautam village in the Captainganj area during an attempt by a joint police team to apprehend him.
According to City Circle Officer Satyendra Bhushan Tiwari, Balveer opened fire on police when cornered, leading to an exchange of fire. Balveer sustained a bullet wound to his right leg and was subsequently arrested and hospitalized.
Balveer was wanted for the December murders of his aunt and her daughter in Setha village. A ₹50,000 reward had been offered for his arrest. Police recovered a 315-bore pistol, one live cartridge, and two spent cartridges from him. The investigation is ongoing.
