Sun Feb 02 21:23:19 IST 2025: ## Two Wildlife Deaths Reported in Nilambur Forest
**MALAPPURAM, Kerala, February 2, 2025** – Two wildlife deaths were reported in the Nilambur forest range in Kerala on Sunday. A ten-year-old leopard was found dead in the Karulai range, with no visible injuries suggesting a natural death due to old age. Leopards typically live 10 to 15 years in the wild, according to forest officials, who have launched an investigation.
Separately, a one-week-old elephant calf was discovered dead near Marutha. Forest staff suspect a tiger killed the calf, as they had sighted a tiger in the vicinity the previous day while two adult elephants guarded the baby. The calf’s body was found partially eaten approximately 100 meters away in a bush.
