Sat Feb 01 16:50:05 UTC 2025: ## Kanniyakumari Collector Cracks Down on Heavy Vehicle Violations
**Nagercoil, February 1, 2025** – Kanniyakumari District Collector R. Alagumeena has announced a strict crackdown on heavy vehicles violating time and speed limits within the district. Following a law and order and road safety meeting on Saturday, the Collector detailed new measures to improve road safety.
Heavy vehicles are banned from operating between 6 am and 10 am, and 3 pm and 8 pm. Due to the district’s narrow roads, a speed limit of 40 kmph has been imposed on heavy trucks. Vehicles flouting these rules and causing accidents will face seizure under the Goondas Act, and their permits will be revoked.
Furthermore, vehicles transporting minerals illegally or exceeding permitted load limits will be seized, and drivers will be arrested under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act. The Collector stressed the importance of these measures to prevent accidents and maintain road safety in the district.
