Sun Feb 02 07:15:24 UTC 2025: ## Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Deva’ Underperforms at Box Office Despite High Expectations
**Mumbai, India** – Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde’s highly anticipated action thriller, “Deva,” is underperforming at the box office, despite facing minimal competition. While the film saw a slight uptick in collections on its second day, reaching an estimated ₹6.42 crore nett in India, it still falls significantly short of expectations.
The film’s opening day collection was reported variably; Zee Studios reported ₹5.78 crore nett domestically, while industry tracker Sacnilk estimated ₹5.5 crore. Regardless of the exact figure, the two-day total of around ₹11.92 crore is considerably lower than Kapoor’s previous successes like “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya” (₹16.35 crore in two days) and “Kabir Singh” (₹42.92 crore in two days). It even lags behind the opening weekend of the ultimately unsuccessful “Batti Gul Meter Chalu”.
Occupancy rates were low on Saturday, starting at 5.84% in the morning and peaking at 20.96% during night shows. While the film showed a 16.73% increase from day one to day two, industry analysts remain cautious about its long-term prospects. Although better than Kapoor’s “Jersey,” the film’s performance has disappointed given its pre-release hype. Film critic Shubhra Gupta noted some positive aspects of Kapoor’s performance. The film’s performance will be closely watched to gauge its potential for recovery in the coming days.
