Sat Feb 01 06:04:30 UTC 2025: ## Telangana to Honor Balladeer Gaddar with Memorial, Film Awards

**Hyderabad, February 1, 2025** – The Telangana government announced plans to erect a memorial for the late revolutionary balladeer Gaddar on Hyderabad’s Necklace Road and name the state’s film awards after him. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, speaking at Gaddar’s birth anniversary celebrations on Friday, pledged to honor the singer’s legacy, criticizing BJP leaders for their past negative comments and opposition to Gaddar’s Padma award nomination.

Reddy highlighted Gaddar’s significant contributions to society and his inspirational role in the fight for Telangana statehood. He recalled his personal connection with the singer and defended the government’s decision to bestow these honors, emphasizing the importance of recognizing influential figures. The Chief Minister also recounted instances where Gaddar was allegedly disrespected by previous administrations, contrasting them with the current government’s efforts to honor his memory.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka echoed these sentiments, stating that the cabinet fully supports honoring Gaddar’s ideology and that denying him a Padma award was an affront to the self-respect of the Telangana people. The event, attended by numerous ministers, artists, and Gaddar’s family, was organized by the Culture department and the Gaddar Foundation.
