Fri Jan 24 14:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Rajya Sabha Member Vijayasai Reddy’s Resignation Rocks YCP
**Visakhapatnam, January 25, 2025** – The YSR Congress Party (YCP) is reeling from the shock resignation announcement of Rajya Sabha member Vijayasai Reddy, who served as the party’s Visakhapatnam district in-charge. His Friday announcement has sparked intense speculation and debate, with many questioning whether the resignation is genuine or a strategic maneuver.
Reddy, considered the number two leader in the party and a key figure in Delhi, wielded significant power within the YCP. Rumors suggest his resignation may be linked to legal troubles faced by his son-in-law’s company, Aurobindo Pharma, which could potentially implicate party chief Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Reddy held considerable influence in Visakhapatnam since before the YCP’s rise to power. His authority was absolute after the party’s victory, overshadowing even ministers. Allegations against him include targeting opposition leaders through harassment and asset seizure, manipulating land records, diverting the Visakhapatnam-Bhogapuram coastal corridor, and creating discord within the Simhachalam Devasthanam by installing a chosen chairperson.
Following a YCP electoral defeat in 2024, Reddy was briefly replaced as Visakhapatnam in-charge, only to be reinstated. His recent return to the city and party meetings, however, reportedly did not sit well with other figures like former MP MVV Satyanarayana and auditor GV. This internal friction, coupled with recent resignations from the party including former minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao and West constituency in-charge Adari Anand Kumar, is causing widespread anxiety within YCP ranks.
Adding to the turmoil, Boddeti Kashi Vishwanatham, the party’s BC cell general secretary, also resigned on Friday, shortly after Reddy’s announcement. Kashi, formerly associated with the Praja Rajyam Party, allegedly joined the YCP after his Gokarting business was reportedly destroyed, an act attributed to Reddy’s efforts to financially cripple opposition figures. His resignation further underscores the growing instability within the YCP. The party is now grappling with the fallout from these high-profile departures and the uncertainty they create.
