**Mangaluru, January 24, 2025** – A new road is set to be constructed for the Parakkalu Koraga Colony in Kadaba taluk, Dakshina Kannada district, thanks to a ₹2.75 crore grant under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) scheme. The foundation stone was laid on Friday by Dakshina Kannada MP Captain Brijesh Chowta.
The PM-JANMAN scheme, launched in 2023 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to provide basic infrastructure to marginalized communities. Chowta highlighted the rigorous follow-up required to secure funding for such projects, emphasizing that he actively pursued the grant from the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs after his election.
In addition to the road project, the central government has also allocated ₹2.4 crore for the construction of four multipurpose centers in the district. However, the state government’s contribution is yet to be released.
Chowta further revealed that Dakshina Kannada district has received approximately ₹11 crore under PM-JANMAN, earmarked for various infrastructure improvements including road upgrades and bridge construction in different taluks.
