Fri Jan 24 17:16:46 UTC 2025: ## Tamil Nadu Students Shine at State-Level Arts Festival Promoting Environmental Awareness

**Chennai, January 24, 2025** – Over 46 lakh students from across Tamil Nadu participated in the State-level Kalai Thiruvizha 2024-25 arts and cultural festival, culminating in an award ceremony at the Anna Centenary Library on Friday. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin presented awards to winning students, praising their focus on environmental conservation.

The festival showcased performances from students in classes I to XII, a significant expansion from previous years which only included classes VI to XII. Performances included songs, dances, and plays highlighting crucial environmental issues such as climate change, plastic pollution, pesticide effects, and land degradation. Mr. Stalin noted the students’ role in educating adults on these critical topics.

Approximately 13,000 students competed at the state level. Mr. Stalin, also the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, emphasized the importance of physical education, urging schools to dedicate PT periods solely to physical activities. He believes that active students perform better academically.

The event was attended by several ministers, including School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, Health Minister Ma. Subramanian, and Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments P.K. Sekarbabu, along with Mayor R. Priya and School Education Secretary S. Madhumathi. All expressed appreciation for the students’ talent and dedication.
