**New Delhi, January 23, 2025** – Delhi Police issued a comprehensive traffic advisory today, warning of significant disruptions in the city center due to the full dress rehearsal for the Republic Day parade. The rehearsal, mirroring the parade’s route, will commence at 10:30 am on Thursday, January 23rd, starting from Vijay Chowk and concluding at Red Fort.
Extensive traffic restrictions will be implemented along the parade route, including Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, and sections of Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Netaji Subhas Marg. Kartavya Path will be completely closed to traffic from Vijay Chowk to India Gate from 6 pm on Wednesday until the rehearsal concludes. Commuters are urged to plan their journeys accordingly and avoid the parade route between 9:30 am and 1 pm. While metro services will remain operational, bus routes will be significantly altered, and heavy vehicles will be barred from entering Delhi from 9 pm on Wednesday until the rehearsal ends. Auto-rickshaws and taxis will also face restrictions in certain areas.
The Delhi Police also announced a ban on all sub-conventional aerial platforms, including drones and paragliders, over Delhi until February 1st. They advise drivers to follow traffic rules and instructions given by police personnel. The public is also encouraged to report any suspicious activity.
