**Hyderabad, January 23, 2025** – The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has vehemently denied allegations of impending depot privatization, refuting claims made by former Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar. Kumar had suggested that the introduction of electric buses signaled a move towards privatization.
In a statement released yesterday, the TGSRTC clarified that all depots remain under its direct operation. The corporation explained that the electric buses were introduced under a gross cost contract model due to the high cost of procurement. This followed the launch of the Union government’s Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME) scheme and subsequent orders under the National Electric Bus Programme.
The TGSRTC further stated that a committee reviewing the integration of its workers into the government workforce is yet to submit its report. The corporation’s statement effectively dismisses concerns of privatization linked to its electric bus initiative.
