Thu Jan 23 07:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Telangana Reopens Ration Card Applications
**Hyderabad, January 21, 2025** – The Telangana government has announced a renewed drive to accept applications for ration cards, starting January 21st and running until January 24th. This initiative follows a recent household survey and aims to address discrepancies and omissions in the existing database.
The state government previously collected applications through Praja Palana (public governance) programs, but a definitive decision on those applications remains pending. The current application process utilizes data from the recent survey, supplemented by applications previously submitted through MeeSeva. Lists of applicants have been published at the village level, but many individuals have expressed concerns about their names being omitted.
To rectify this, the government is now accepting new applications and modifications to existing ones. Applicants can submit applications on plain paper, clearly stating the head of household’s name, family member details, and Aadhaar numbers. For new cards, applications can be submitted at Gram Sabhas (village assemblies) or Ward Sabhas (urban ward meetings). For modifications, applicants should include their existing ration card number and details of additions or changes, along with Aadhaar numbers of new members.
Officials will review submitted applications, potentially uploading the information online. After thorough vetting, a list of eligible applicants will be published. The government assures that the ration card issuance process is ongoing and eligible individuals will receive cards, with no plans to cancel existing cards.
