Thu Jan 23 07:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Rohit Sharma’s Ranji Trophy Return Cut Short by J&K Pacer
**Mumbai, India** – Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma’s return to Ranji Trophy cricket after a nine-year-and-three-month hiatus ended abruptly on Wednesday. Playing for Mumbai against Jammu & Kashmir, Sharma was dismissed for a paltry three runs off 19 balls.
The dismissal came courtesy of J&K pacer Umar Nazir Meer, who trapped Sharma with a well-placed delivery. Sharma attempted a lofted shot over mid-wicket but the ball went straight to J&K captain Parvez Rasool, who took a stunning catch at mid-off.
Meer’s impact didn’t end there. He also quickly dispatched Mumbai’s Hardik Tamore (7), Ajinkya Rahane (12), and Shivam Dube (0), further contributing to Mumbai’s early struggles.
Meer, a 31-year-old right-arm medium-fast bowler from Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir, has an impressive first-class record with 142 wickets in 58 matches. He has also played extensively in List A and T20 cricket. Previously, he was selected for India C in the Deodhar Trophy in October 2018, though he didn’t feature in any matches. The match is being played at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai.
