Wed Jan 22 15:37:20 UTC 2025: ## Mumbai Police Send Evidence to Forensic Lab in Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case

**Mumbai, India** – Evidence collected in the investigation into the stabbing of actor Saif Ali Khan is undergoing forensic analysis at the Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Mumbai. Multiple FSL departments, including those specializing in tape authentication, speaker identification, biology, DNA, footprints, physics, and cyber forensics, are examining items seized from the alleged attacker, Shareeful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national also known as Vijay Das.

Police arrested Fakir on Sunday for allegedly stabbing Khan during a burglary attempt at his Bandra apartment on January 16th. The evidence submitted to the FSL includes mobile phones, the suspect’s clothing, and CCTV footage. While police initially found no bloodstains on the suspect’s clothes, a thorough forensic examination is underway.

Investigators are facing challenges in interrogating Fakir due to a significant language barrier. He speaks Hindi with a strong Bangladeshi accent, requiring police to employ special measures to understand his statements.

On Tuesday, police conducted a crime scene reconstruction at Khan’s building, briefly taking Fakir to a nearby location to retrace the events. Khan himself was discharged from hospital on Monday after undergoing two surgeries following the attack.
