**Bengaluru, India –** The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) announced Wednesday the successful dispatch of the Crew Module for its upcoming Gaganyaan G1 mission, marking a significant step towards India’s first human spaceflight. The Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) in Bengaluru completed the integration of the liquid propulsion system and shipped the module to the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
The Crew Module Propulsion System (CMPS), a bi-propellant Reaction Control System (RCS), will provide precise three-axis control (pitch, yaw, and roll) during the crucial descent and re-entry phases of the mission. This system utilizes twelve 100N thrusters, a pressurisation system, and a propellant feed system. The Crew Module Uprighting System (CMUS), developed by the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), has also been integrated.
Before its final integration with the Orbital Module at the U R Rao Satellite Centre, the Crew Module will undergo further assembly and testing at VSSC, including avionics integration and electrical harnessing. Gaganyaan G1, an uncrewed mission, paves the way for future crewed missions as part of ISRO’s ambitious human spaceflight program.
