**New Delhi, January 23, 2025** – The National Testing Agency (NTA) successfully conducted the first day of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 on January 23rd, 2025, in two shifts. The exam, crucial for admission to prestigious engineering and architecture colleges across India, continues on January 24th with further shifts.
The JEE Main consists of two papers: Paper 1 for BE/BTech admissions and Paper 2 for BArch and BPlanning courses. Paper 1 is a computer-based test (CBT), while Paper 2A (BArch) includes a CBT portion and an offline drawing test, and Paper 2B (BPlanning) is entirely CBT-based.
Early analysis of the January 23rd exam suggests a moderate difficulty level overall. Experts from Aakash Educational Services Limited reported that the Physics section was generally considered easy in both shifts, with a strong representation of Mechanics and Waves. Chemistry was also deemed relatively easy, though some found theoretical questions challenging. However, the Mathematics section proved to be the most demanding, described as lengthy and calculative in both shifts, causing time constraints for many candidates.
Ajay Sharma, National Academic Director, Engineering at Aakash Educational Services Limited, noted that while Mathematics covered all key chapters comprehensively, the calculations involved made it the most time-consuming section. Both morning and evening shifts showed a similar trend, with Physics considered the easiest and Mathematics the most difficult. Specific topics like Calculus and Vectors were highlighted as particularly demanding within Mathematics.
The remaining JEE Main 2025 exams are scheduled for January 24th, 2025. The NTA will announce the official answer key at a later date.
