**Barnala, Punjab –** A two-year-old girl, Zoya, died Monday after being run over by a vehicle belonging to the management of a private school in Barnala, Punjab. The incident, captured on CCTV footage, occurred on the premises of Sacred Heart Church where Zoya was playing with her parents.
According to the distraught parents, Suraj Kumar and Anupama, the driver, identified as Jaswinder Singh, was negligent, driving at excessive speed in a confined area. Mr. Kumar stated that the vehicle ran over Zoya twice, with the driver failing to stop after the initial impact. He further alleged that the vehicle’s occupants, believed to be school employees, offered no apology or assistance.
Police have arrested the driver, a resident of Sirsa, Haryana, and seized the vehicle. Deputy Superintendent of Police Satbir Singh confirmed the arrest and stated that a thorough investigation is underway. The school has yet to issue a statement regarding the tragedy. The grieving parents are demanding justice and are inconsolable over the loss of their only child.
