**Mumbai, India –** Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times in his Bandra home early Thursday morning, January 16th, in an incident that has highlighted serious security lapses. Police have arrested the alleged attacker, Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, a Bangladeshi national, three days after the incident.
Khan, 54, was attacked by Fakir, who allegedly scaled the building’s perimeter wall and discovered both security guards asleep – one in the guard cabin and the other near the entrance. The lack of CCTV cameras in the building’s corridor and near the main entrance allowed Fakir to enter undetected. He further minimized noise by removing his shoes and switching off his phone.
The attacker, who had been residing in Mumbai for over five months, gained entry through the main entrance. Khan underwent a five-hour surgery at Lilavati Hospital following the attack and was discharged on Tuesday.
A crime scene reconstruction on Tuesday revealed the extent of the security failures. Police Inspector (Crime) Ajay Lingnurkar is leading the investigation into the incident. Fakir remains in police custody. The investigation is ongoing.
