Wed Jan 22 14:01:27 UTC 2025: ## Kerala to Establish Center of Excellence for Science and Technology

**Thiruvananthapuram, January 23, 2025** – The Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) and Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) have partnered to create the Kerala Institute for Science, Technology, and Innovation (KISTI), a new center of excellence. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed Wednesday in the presence of Higher Education Minister R. Bindu.

KISTI, to be located on the MGU campus in Kottayam, will focus on advanced scientific research in fields such as sustainable fuels, waste management, nanotechnology, and big data analytics. The initiative is a collaborative effort involving the state government, scientists, technologists, and philanthropists from Kerala.

This new institute is one of seven centers of excellence planned by the state government as announced in this year’s budget. KISTI aims to attract a global research community and establish Kerala as a hub for cutting-edge scientific advancements.
