**MUMBAI, INDIA** – Actor Saif Ali Khan was discharged from Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, five days after he was stabbed multiple times during a home invasion. The 54-year-old actor, who sustained six injuries including two deep stab wounds, waved to fans and media as he left the hospital surrounded by security.
Khan underwent emergency surgery after the January 16th incident, which involved the removal of a knife blade lodged in his spine. The attack occurred between 2 am and 2:30 am at his Bandra residence. A nanny first spotted the intruder in the room of Khan’s younger son before he allegedly attacked the nanny, demanded ₹1 crore (approximately $1.2 million USD), and stabbed Khan and another staff member.
Meanwhile, police are continuing their investigation. Earlier Tuesday, they took the arrested suspect, 30-year-old Bangladeshi national Mohammed Shariful Islam alias Vijay Das, back to Khan’s residence to recreate the crime scene. Police are also searching for the remaining piece of the knife used in the attack. Das was apprehended on Sunday after a manhunt involving CCTV footage and tracking an online payment he made. He had reportedly fled the scene, sleeping in a nearby garden before taking a train to Thane, where he was eventually found hiding in mangroves.
