Wed Jan 22 14:34:15 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh Leverages AI for Governance and Job Creation, Says Minister

**Davos, Switzerland** – Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh expressed optimism about the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the World Economic Forum in Davos. While acknowledging concerns about job displacement, he argued that AI will ultimately create more jobs than it eliminates, echoing similar sentiments expressed by Gita Gopinath of the IMF and Amitabh Kant, India’s G20 Sherpa.

Mr. Lokesh stated that the nature of jobs will change, with new roles emerging in currently unforeseen sectors. He dismissed fears of widespread unemployment due to AI, citing historical precedents where technological advancements ultimately led to job growth. He noted that while some white-collar jobs may be affected, the overall effect will be positive. This view aligns with assessments indicating that while 26% of India’s workforce may be exposed to AI, a significant portion will benefit from its implementation.

The Andhra Pradesh government is actively harnessing AI’s potential, implementing innovative projects in education and welfare. In education, AI is being utilized to personalize learning experiences, providing students with targeted homework based on their performance. Collaborations with tech giants like Meta and Google are aiding in identifying beneficiaries for welfare schemes and streamlining service delivery. The government aims to empower women, students, and farmers through AI, aiming to improve their livelihoods. Mr. Lokesh emphasized the government’s role in creating and scaling AI use cases to maximize its benefits across various sectors.
