**Prayagraj, India** – A magisterial inquiry has been launched to investigate the cause of a fire that broke out at the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. A team comprising the ADM (Administration) and Sector Magistrate has been constituted by the Mela authorities. Preliminary investigations suggest a gas cylinder leak ignited the blaze, which subsequently spread rapidly, engulfing numerous tents and temporary shelters.
The incident has sparked political debate, with Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav questioning the preparedness of the event organizers. BJP leader Ajay Rai responded, accusing Yadav of highlighting the incident for political gain.
The fire comes amidst record-breaking attendance at the Kumbh Mela, with over 80 million pilgrims having already taken a holy dip. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued instructions to ensure smooth operations during the auspicious occasion of Mauni Amavasya. Separately, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nephew, Sachin Modi, visited the Kumbh Mela and was seen singing Kabir’s devotional songs with friends, footage of which has since gone viral.
