**Prayagraj, [Date]** – A major fire broke out at the Gita Press camp in Sector 19 of the Mahakumbh Mela on Sunday afternoon, engulfing 170 cottages and causing damage estimated in crores. The fire, which started around 4 pm, is believed to have originated from a nearby area outside the Gita Press boundary, according to trustee Krishna Kumar Khemka. While the blaze spread rapidly, prompt action by the fire department and police resulted in its containment by 5 pm.
Khemka confirmed that no casualties were reported, despite a gas cylinder explosion which occurred after the fire reached the kitchen area. He attributed the incident to an unfortunate accident, denying any foul play. He stated that the fire spread quickly from an adjacent area where some people were residing outside the camp’s boundary. Nearby tents were also affected.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the site and issued instructions to officials, while Prime Minister Modi also inquired about the situation. Khemka assured that Gita Press will resume services on Monday and complete its Kumbh Mela commitments. He expressed gratitude for the support received from the administration and the public. The investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
