**MUMBAI, INDIA** – Coldplay’s highly anticipated India tour kicked off in Mumbai on Saturday with a resounding success, leaving millions of fans captivated. The British band’s performance at the DY Patil Stadium was marked by frontman Chris Martin’s genuine efforts to connect with the Indian audience, culminating in heartfelt moments that quickly went viral.

Martin expressed deep gratitude for the warm welcome, acknowledging the complex history between Britain and India. In a powerful statement, he said, “Thank you for welcoming us even though we are from Britain, and thanks for forgiving us for everything the Britishers did.” The crowd responded with thunderous applause.

Further endearing himself to the audience, Martin greeted fans with “shukriya” (thank you) in Hindi after a song, eliciting enthusiastic cheers. In a completely spontaneous moment, he spotted a fan’s sign reading “Jai Shri Ram” and, after asking about its meaning, repeated the phrase to the delight of the crowd.

The concert featured a dazzling array of Coldplay’s greatest hits, including “Paradise,” “Viva La Vida,” “Adventure of a Lifetime,” and “Yellow,” among others.

Coldplay will return to Mumbai for two more shows on January 21st and 22nd, before moving on to Ahmedabad for concerts on January 25th and 26th. The Ahmedabad shows will be live-streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.

Adding a personal touch to his Indian visit, Martin, who arrived with his girlfriend Dakota Johnson, reportedly took time to visit several temples during their stay in Mumbai. The band’s India tour is proving to be not only a musical spectacle but also a cultural exchange filled with unexpected moments of connection and reconciliation.
