**NEW DELHI** – Star Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is reportedly set to marry Priya Saroj, a Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh. While social media buzzed with claims of an engagement, Saroj’s father, Tufani Saroj, clarified that while the couple have mutually agreed to marry, a formal engagement has not yet taken place.

“The children have agreed to marry if their families approve,” Saroj explained. “Preliminary discussions have been fruitful, but an engagement hasn’t happened. The media reports are premature.” He added that scheduling the engagement is challenging due to Singh’s upcoming T20 cricket series with England and Saroj’s parliamentary session.

Priya Saroj, a rising star in Indian politics, is the daughter of three-time MP and current MLA Tufani Saroj. At 25, she won the Machhlishahr Lok Sabha seat for the Samajwadi Party in 2024, becoming one of the youngest MPs in India. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Delhi University and a Bachelor of Laws from Amity University, Noida. Before entering politics, Saroj worked as a Supreme Court lawyer.

Rinku Singh rose to fame after his impressive IPL performance in 2023, hitting five consecutive sixes in the final over against Gujarat Titans. This propelled him into the Indian T20 team, making his international debut in August 2023. He has since played 30 T20 Internationals, scoring 507 runs, and two ODIs, scoring 55 runs. He is currently part of the Indian team set to play against England in a five-match T20I series starting January 22nd. He was also a traveling reserve for India’s T20 World Cup 2024 winning team.
