Thu Jan 16 18:08:45 UTC 2025: ## Delhi’s Foggy Start, Air Quality Improves After Rainfall
**New Delhi, January 17** – Delhi experienced a foggy start to Thursday, with mild rainfall improving air quality from “severe” to “poor.” The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Thursday morning due to poor visibility, impacting 29 trains and several flights. Schools, reopened after a cold snap, shifted to a hybrid learning model as a precautionary measure under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), although GRAP Stage IV restrictions were lifted later in the day following the air quality improvement.
The IMD forecasts mostly clear skies for Friday, with dense fog in the morning potentially intensifying the cold. Light showers are predicted for the evening and night of January 21. The minimum and maximum temperatures for Friday are expected to be around 8 and 19 degrees Celsius, respectively. While the AQI improved to 288 (“poor”) by Thursday evening, the IMD predicts continued morning fog for at least another day or two. Authorities advise caution when traveling during foggy conditions.
