**Prayagraj, India** – The ongoing Maha Kumbh mela has thrust Abhey Singh, a former aerospace engineer known as “IIT Baba,” into the spotlight. Singh, who traded a successful career for a life of spirituality, is now the subject of a heartfelt appeal from his father, Karan Grewal, an advocate from Jhajjar, Haryana.

Grewal expressed his desire for Singh’s return home to NDTV, stating, “Our family wishes Abhey to return home, but after achieving so much, it’s not easy for him to come back.” He described his son as academically exceptional, highlighting his achievements at IIT Bombay and subsequent master’s degree and career in New Delhi and Canada. However, Singh eventually left his career abroad, seeking solace in spiritual practices in locations like Shimla, Mussoorie, and Dharamshala, eventually becoming a sanyasi (ascetic).

While Grewal maintains contact ceased six months ago after Singh blocked all communication, he revealed his intention to try and reconnect with his son, though he admits little hope for success. The father expressed understanding towards his son’s decision, acknowledging Singh’s independent nature and right to choose his own path.

Singh recently shared a traumatic past involving domestic violence, stating that witnessing his parents’ constant fights influenced his decision to embrace a solitary spiritual life. This revelation adds context to his decision to forgo marriage and pursue asceticism. The Maha Kumbh mela continues to be the backdrop for this poignant family drama, as a father’s plea echoes amidst the spiritual fervor.
