**Mangaluru, January 16, 2025** – Mangaluru police have made significant arrests in two separate cases: an online investment fraud and a drug seizure.

Two Kerala men, Ummar Valiya (41) and M.V. Riyaz (45), both from Kannur district, were arrested for their involvement in a ₹77.96 lakh online investment fraud that occurred in 2024. Police traced the funds, discovering a ₹26.27 lakh transfer to a West Bengal resident, who subsequently transferred ₹6 lakh to Valiya’s account at Riyaz’s behest. Riyaz allegedly promised Valiya a commission for withdrawing and handing over the money.

Separately, Panambur police arrested Umar Farooq (32) of Kasba Bengre on Wednesday, seizing 1.72 grams of MDMA and a machete. Farooq was apprehended near the New Mangalore Port Authority’s Truck Yard.
