**Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 16, 2025** – The Kerala Higher Education Minister, R. Bindu, announced the establishment of a Sub Centre of Excellence for Research Network Support at the Government College for Women in Thiruvananthapuram. The announcement was made during the inauguration of Cognitopia, a three-day multidisciplinary festival celebrating the college’s 125th anniversary.
The new sub-centre will facilitate research collaborations with national and international institutions, reflecting the government’s recognition of the college’s contributions to public research. Minister Bindu also emphasized the state’s commitment to bridging the gap between higher education and employment opportunities.
As part of the festival, a computerized aptitude test for school students, jointly developed by the college’s Department of Psychology and the Additional Skill Acquisition Project (ASAP) Kerala, was also launched. The Cognitopia festival features sessions by experts from various fields, including speakers from the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and the University of Southampton. The event includes exhibitions and sessions covering cultural and educational themes.
