**Mumbai, January 16, 2025** – Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is recovering after undergoing surgery for multiple stab wounds sustained during an alleged burglary attempt at his Mumbai residence early this morning. The incident occurred around 2:30 am at his 12th-floor apartment in the Satguru Sharan building in Bandra.

According to police, an unidentified intruder, who has since been identified via CCTV footage, gained access to the apartment and attacked Khan with a knife, inflicting six injuries – two minor, two intermediate, and two deep, one dangerously close to his spine. The intruder escaped via the building’s staircase. While initial reports suggested forced entry, police now believe the intruder may have been present in the building earlier. Ten police teams have been formed to investigate.

Khan’s son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, rushed his father to Lilavati Hospital around 3:30 am. Hospital officials confirmed that Khan is out of danger and recovering after surgery to remove the knife. A statement from Khan’s team assures that all family members, including his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and their children, are safe.

The attack has sparked outrage and political debate. Opposition leaders have criticized the state government’s handling of law and order, demanding the resignation of Maharashtra Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Fadnavis responded by acknowledging the seriousness of the incident but refuted claims that Mumbai is unsafe. Other political figures, including West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, expressed concern and condemned the attack, with Banerjee also voicing worry for the safety of other Bollywood actors. Several opposition leaders echoed similar sentiments. Jewellery designer Saba Pataudi, Saif Ali Khan’s sister, expressed shock but pride in her brother’s efforts to protect his family.

The investigation is ongoing, with police examining CCTV footage and questioning staff. While no arrests have been made yet, police believe the attacker may have been known to someone in the household. The incident has raised serious questions about the safety and security of celebrities in Mumbai.
