Thu Jan 16 04:48:03 UTC 2025: ## Rohit Sharma’s Ranji Trophy Participation Uncertain Amidst Slump

**Mumbai, January 18** – India captain Rohit Sharma’s participation in Mumbai’s upcoming Ranji Trophy Elite Group A match against Jammu and Kashmir remains uncertain. The match is scheduled to begin on January 23rd, but the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is yet to confirm his availability.

An MCA official stated that the team selectors will announce the squad on January 20th, after confirming the availability of all players, including Rohit. The 37-year-old is currently battling a poor run of form, having managed only 31 runs in the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. While he was absent from some early-week training sessions, he was seen batting at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday and is expected to resume practice soon.

Speculation about Rohit’s future arose after he relinquished the captaincy in the final Test against Australia, but he subsequently denied any plans to retire. He participated in a team performance review meeting on Sunday with head coach Gautam Gambhir and BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia.

In contrast to the uncertainty surrounding Rohit, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has confirmed his participation and joined the Mumbai camp on Wednesday. Other Mumbai players, including Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube, have been showcasing strong form in training. The final decision on Rohit’s inclusion in the Ranji Trophy squad is expected by the end of this week.
