**Mumbai, India** – Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is recovering in Lilavati Hospital after being stabbed six times during a burglary attempt at his Mumbai residence early Thursday morning. Khan, who was rushed to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw with a knife still lodged in his back, sustained two deep wounds to his back, one dangerously close to his spine, and a minor neck injury. Doctors report he is now stable and out of danger following neurosurgery to remove the knife and plastic surgery to repair other wounds.
According to Mumbai Police, the attacker, who is believed to be related to one of Khan’s staffers, gained entry to the 12th-floor apartment with the help of an inside accomplice. The staffer is currently being questioned. While theft is the suspected motive, the investigation is ongoing, with police examining CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses. The accused was briefly locked in a room before escaping, and police have released a CCTV image of him. Ten police teams and five specialized crime branch units are actively searching for the suspect, last seen in Prabhadevi. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed under several serious charges of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
Union Minister Ramdas Athawale and other officials visited Khan in the hospital, confirming his stable condition. While police remain tight-lipped about specific details, preliminary investigations suggest the attacker may have been aided by a domestic helper. The incident has raised concerns about security, with several politicians commenting on the incident. The actor’s wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, released a statement confirming the attempted burglary and urging the public to avoid speculation while the police investigation continues.
