Wed Jan 15 15:38:51 UTC 2025: ## Mysuru MP Pushes for Arjuna Elephant Memorial and Yoga Museum

**Mysuru, Karnataka –** Mysuru MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar is advocating for the creation of a memorial dedicated to Arjuna, the famed Dasara elephant, and a yoga museum in the city. Wadiyar met with Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Wednesday in New Delhi to present the proposals.

The proposed memorial for Arjuna, which carried the golden howdah during the Dasara procession for many years, would be located at the LIC Circle in Bannimantap, a key location on the Dasara procession route. The MP highlighted Arjuna’s significant role in Mysuru’s cultural heritage and suggested a collaborative project between the central and state governments, with an estimated cost of ₹20 crore. The memorial would include a large-scale sculpture of the elephant.

Additionally, Wadiyar proposed a yoga museum in the old Deputy Commissioner’s office, now vacant following a relocation. He emphasized Mysuru’s global reputation as a yoga hub and argued that a museum would promote the ancient art and boost tourism. The MP requested central government support for this project, which is already under consideration by the state government as part of the Swadeshi Darshan project.

Minister Shekhawat reportedly responded positively to both proposals, expressing optimism about their timely implementation.
