**Belagavi, January 15, 2025** – Former Karnataka Minister and BJP MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi has accused Congress Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar of falsely claiming credit for the construction of the Congress party office in Belagavi. Jarkiholi asserted that he personally donated ₹1.27 crore towards the land and building when he was a member of the Congress party, and that his brother, Congress Minister Satish Jarkiholi, completed the construction of a partially finished building and continues to maintain it.
Jarkiholi’s statement directly contradicts claims made by KPCC president D.K. Shivakumar and Hebbalkar during a recent Congress Legislature Party meeting. He accused certain leaders of financial irregularities in the project, hinting at the possibility of future revelations. He further stated that he initiated the land acquisition process and secured the land from the descendants of former Union Minister B. Shankaranand.
While acknowledging Hebbalkar’s position as district president during the construction, Jarkiholi vehemently denied her sole responsibility for the building’s completion. He also addressed Shivakumar’s interference in Belagavi politics, stating that he had previously blocked such interference during his tenure as district in-charge Minister.
Jarkiholi expressed support for his brother’s reported opposition to Shivakumar within the Congress party, advising him against remaining silent. He also commented on allegations of offensive remarks made by BJP MLC C.T. Ravi towards Hebbalkar, stating that while he did not support such behavior, such incidents are not uncommon in politics.
Finally, Jarkiholi echoed the Leader of Opposition’s prediction of the Congress government’s imminent collapse, citing internal divisions within the party.
