Wed Jan 15 13:10:13 UTC 2025: ## Pregnant Woman and Disabled Parents Brutally Assaulted by In-Laws in Chhattisgarh

**Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, January 15, 2025** – A pregnant woman and her disabled parents were brutally assaulted by her in-laws in Raigarh district, Chhattisgarh, police confirmed today. The attack, which was captured on video, has sparked outrage and prompted a police investigation.

Anusha Gupta, a three-month pregnant nurse, and her parents were attacked at the in-laws’ home in Tenda Navapara village after Anusha’s husband, Madhusudan Gupta, an SSB jawan, abandoned her near Dongargarh while they were returning to Chhattisgarh from Uttarakhand. The couple, who married in September 2024 against the wishes of Madhusudan’s family, had been living in Uttarakhand due to his posting.

According to Anusha, Madhusudan’s brother booked the train tickets, and his family lured her and her parents to their home under the pretense of a reconciliation. Upon arrival, they were violently attacked. The video shows Anusha’s mother-in-law and other relatives kicking, punching, and hitting her with slippers, specifically targeting her stomach. Anusha’s father was allegedly beaten with a cricket bat. The assault reportedly lasted for three hours.

Anusha stated that her husband deserted her on the train, leaving her stranded. She contacted the railway helpline after he disappeared.

Police have registered a case against Madhusudan’s parents and other relatives involved in the assault. Raigarh Additional SP Akash Markam confirmed the ongoing investigation and assured that those found guilty would face severe consequences. A search is underway to locate Madhusudan Gupta, who is currently missing. Anusha and her mother have filed a complaint at the Pusaur police station.
