**New Delhi, January 16, 2025** – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will be the chief guest at India’s 76th Republic Day celebrations on January 26th, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced. President Subianto’s visit, from January 25th to 26th, marks his first trip to India as President.
The MEA highlighted Indonesia’s significance as a comprehensive strategic partner and a key pillar in India’s Act East Policy and Indo-Pacific vision. The visit is intended to allow both countries’ leaders to review bilateral ties and discuss regional and global issues.
This continues a tradition of inviting world leaders to the annual Republic Day celebrations. Previous chief guests include French President Emmanuel Macron (2024), Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi (2023), and a range of other heads of state and government from across the globe in previous years. The 2021 and 2022 celebrations did not feature a chief guest due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
