**PUNE, INDIA –** The 77th Indian Army Day will be celebrated with a grand spectacle in Pune on January 15th, featuring a unique light and sound show titled “Gaurav Gatha” (Glory Saga). Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will be the chief guest at the event, which will be held at the Bhagat Pavilion of the Bombay Engineers Group and Centre.

The show will utilize advanced laser and multimedia technology to depict the evolution of Indian warfare, drawing inspiration from ancient epics like the Ramayana and Mahabharata, as well as modern conflicts. Themes will include ancient warfare strategies, the changing nature of war, and the valor of Indian soldiers throughout history. Notable figures such as Lord Ram, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mangal Pandey, and Bhagat Singh will be highlighted.

The “Gaurav Gatha” will be preceded by a parade, a first for Pune, carrying the theme “Samarth Bharat, Saksham Sena” (Strong India, Capable Army). The parade will include a Nepal Army band, an all-female NCC marching contingent, and a display of “robotic mules.”

Before the main event, Minister Singh will meet with “veer naris” (brave women) and veterans, unveil an army app, and virtually lay the foundation stone for an Army Paralympic Node.

The annual Indian Army Day commemorates the transfer of command from British General Sir Francis Butcher to Lieutenant General KM Cariappa on January 15th, 1949, marking a pivotal moment in India’s history. The day celebrates the bravery and sacrifices of Indian soldiers.
