**Bengaluru, January 15, 2025** – In a major crackdown on drug trafficking leading up to New Year’s Eve 2024, Bengaluru City Police arrested 85 drug peddlers, including three foreign nationals, and seized a significant quantity of narcotics. The operation resulted in 62 cases being filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act, 1985.
Among the confiscated drugs were 241 kilos of marijuana, 48 grams of cocaine, 130 grams of charas, 12.3 kilos of MDMA, 350 ecstasy tablets, and 40 LSD strips. The largest single seizure involved the arrest of a foreign national woman on December 17th, with police confiscating 12 kilos of MDMA crystals valued at ₹24 crore (approximately $2.9 million USD). The police operation highlights a sustained effort to combat drug-related crime in the city.
